Thythorn Field Primary School is a small school with one class per year group. The school has grown in size over recent years. At present we have a school population size of 212 on roll. Our school has been refurbished over the years, including a brand new year six classroom with the rest of the school split largely into three main open plan teaching areas.
We have to make the most of every available space, but think our school is vibrant and a place that celebrates and supports its children. We also have a number of Birkett House pupils and staff who are educated at Thythorn as part of two inclusive classes, accompanied by their own staff. We have a rich curriculum with visitors and visits planned to enhance children’s learning. Overall, we are a well-resourced school and recognise the need to invest in our children’s future
School Values
Our School Values are based upon a set of school rules which are drawn up with the children; these rules are regularly revisited and reviewed. They are at the heart of our '123 magic' behavioural system, which was introduced in 2013 and reviewed on a yearly basis. They allow the children to gain ownership of what is right and wrong within their learning environment. Each class displays and refers to their 'stop' and 'start' list on a daily basis.
Being part of a richly multicultural county means we value teaching our children empathy, tolerance and above all, a kind approach to their peers. We welcome the children's suggestions for improvements in our school, through sharing our values in assemblies and class on a regular basis. Thythorn takes great pride in the comments and appreciation we get from visitors and parents, who recognise the values within the behaviour of the children.
