We want your child to settle quickly into the life of the school and to be happy and fulfilled. We have a long tradition of involving parents in school life which we believe provides the best possible start to each child's school career.

This partnership also extends with the close links we have with the village community. By valuing these links we believe we can prepare your child to meet the challenges the future holds and lay sound foundations for all future learning.

Our curriculum is planned to allow every child to work to the best of their ability and learn the satisfaction of achieving high personal standards.

Respect-We believe every individual is worthy of respect

Creativity-We believe our children will learn best if their minds are stimulated and they are excited by and engaged in their leaning

Independence-We encourage our children to think for themselves, to make their own decisions and to understand that they have a role to play not only in this school but in the world at large.

Challenge- We believe that every individual has a right to be challenged in order that their thinking may grow and develop.

Christian Ethos -We believe it is important for our children to embark on a spiritual voyage of discovery and we aim to provide the emotional space, stimulus and moral guidance for our pupils to explore in safety.

school history

Charles Kingsley's School is a Church of England Primary School for children from four to eleven years of age.

The original building, Eversley School, was founded in 1853, largely due to the efforts of Charles Kingsley, the author of the "The Water Babies". He came to the village of Eversley in 1843 as a curate, and was concerned that no labourer in the village could read or write.

The school was soon acknowledge as one of the best in the area and children from neighboring parishes were allowed to attend on payment of 2d. per week.

Over the years the school has increased in size and further classrooms have been added.

The school now has Church of England Aided Status which means that it is owned by the Diocese but is given financial and educational support by the Local Education Authority. This allows the school to function within the Authority while remaining faithful to its original Church of England Foundation.
