Woodhouse Community Primary School is situated in the historic town of Bishop Auckland in County Durham. We cater for pupils aged 2 to 11 years and have approximately 260 children attending our school.

Our aim is to provide children with a nurturing and supportive environment that allows all learners to thrive and to become responsible and independent members of their local community.  We strive for all of our pupils to become life-long learners, to be aspirational in their achievements and to be the very best version of themselves that they can be.

We highly value the role that parents and carers play in their children’s learning and encourage them to participate in school life. We know that by working together in partnership, opportunities and life chances for children are greatly improved. We believe that together in partnership with families, we are helping the children ‘follow the pathway to success’.

Mission Statement

‘All organisations concerned with children should work towards what is best for them.’ (UNICEF, Article 3)

We would like our school, which reflects British values, to be at the heart of the community, sharing, supporting and learning together with everyone as equals. Our children have the right to high quality learning experiences to help them to be the best they can be.

We encourage our children to be creative, unique, open-minded and independent individuals, respectful of themselves and of others in our school, our local community and the wider world.

We aim to nurture our children on their journey through life so they can grow into safe, caring, democratic, responsible and tolerant adults who make a positive difference to British Society and to the world.

We are a Rights Respecting School Level 1 and firmly believe that the UNICEF Rights of the Child underpin everything that we do.
